Store Replenishment Manager Job Available in Canada
Aer Rianta International (ARI) was established in 1988 as a subsidiary of Aer Rianta, the state-owned company responsible for managing Ireland’s airports. The name “Aer Rianta” is derived from the Irish language, meaning “air ways” or “air tracks.” Initially, Aer Rianta served as a holding company for the national airline, Aer Lingus and played a pivotal role in promoting aviation in Ireland.
In 1947, Aer Rianta pioneered the concept of airport duty-free shopping by opening the world’s first duty-free store at Shannon Airport, setting a global precedent in travel retail.
As a subsidiary, ARI has expanded its operations beyond Ireland, establishing a significant international presence. The company operates duty-free and duty-paid retail outlets in various countries across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and the Americas.
Notably, ARI was the first operator to establish and manage a duty-free store at Dubai International Airport in 1983 and introduced duty-free shopping to Russia in 1988. Today, ARI manages retail operations in 13 countries across five continents, employing over 3,500 people worldwide.
ARI is wholly owned by the Irish state through its parent company, daa (formerly Dublin Airport Authority). The daa group oversees Dublin and Cork airports and includes subsidiaries like ARI and daa International, which provides consultancy and management services to airports globally.
This structure allows ARI to leverage the resources and expertise of the daa group while maintaining a focus on delivering innovative and customer-centric retail experiences in airports around the world.
