Full-Time Clinical/Optical Store Assistant Position
Eyetelligence, founded in 2019 and based in Melbourne, Australia, specializes in developing AI-based clinical decision-making tools for healthcare professionals, particularly in ophthalmology. The company focuses on non-invasive, point-of-care technology to diagnose various eye diseases, including diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration, through algorithmic retinal image analysis.
In May 2023, Eyetelligence secured a $12 million investment from Ascertain, a partnership between Aegis Ventures and Northwell Health, to expand its innovative solutions.
In October 2024, Eyetelligence underwent a significant rebranding, changing its name to Optain to reflect its evolving mission and global expansion. This rebranding aligns with the company’s goal to make preventive eye care more accessible by placing advanced diagnostic tools in the hands of clinicians worldwide.
Optain’s technology aims to shift healthcare from reactive to proactive by enabling early detection and treatment of eye diseases, thereby improving patient outcomes.
Optain’s AI-enabled products have already been commercialized in Australia, with partnerships including Bupa Optical and the optometry chain George & Matilda. The company is also expanding its presence in New Zealand, Europe, Japan and the United States. By integrating advanced AI algorithms with retinal imaging, Optain empowers healthcare providers to detect eye diseases earlier and more accurately, facilitating timely interventions and enhancing patient care.
