Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary for this role ranges from $65,208 to $73,645.52 per year, depending on the candidate’s experience. All employment conditions align with the Children Services Award 2010.

Regional Early Education and Development (REED) operates as a multi-site Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) provider with 25 locations across Regional Western Australia.

Position Overview (ANZSCO 421111)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality early childhood education and care for children from infancy (0 years) to six years old in long daycare settings and up to twelve years in outside school hours care programs.
  • Plan, implement and oversee developmentally appropriate educational programs tailored to support children’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth.
  • Foster play-based learning by incorporating children’s interests into meaningful educational experiences.
  • Build trusting relationships with children and their families, ensuring that each child feels safe, valued and supported.
  • Maintain a safe and inclusive environment where children are encouraged to learn and grow.
  • Supervise daily routines while providing critical reflections on children’s progress to enhance their learning experiences.
  • Implement positive behavior management techniques that encourage cooperative interactions and age-appropriate expectations.
  • Act as a role model by demonstrating positive behaviors that contribute to children’s social and emotional development.
  • Ensure strict adherence to child-to-staff ratios, guaranteeing optimal supervision at all times.
  • Support, train and guide trainees, students and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and educational work environment.
  • Conduct regular observations of children, document their progress and use this data to design engaging and effective learning programs.
  • Take primary responsibility for children under your supervision and collaborate effectively with assistant educators and trainees by delegating tasks where necessary.
  • Work in compliance with early childhood education laws and regulations, including the Children (Education and Care Services National Law Application) Bill 2010, National Regulations and National Quality Standards for Early Education and Care.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of daily center management in the temporary absence of the Director, ensuring full compliance with licensing, statutory obligations and quality assurance protocols.
  • Supervise employees, promoting teamwork and professional development to maintain high-quality education and care services.
  • Work closely with the Cluster Manager to implement a strategic vision that enhances REED’s reputation for excellence in early childhood education.
  • Strengthen community relationships by promoting the organization’s services and fostering meaningful partnerships.
  • Maintain collaboration among team leaders within the service cluster, ensuring a unified approach to education and care.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of center policies to ensure operational effectiveness and consistency.
  • Oversee the implementation of REED operational policies and processes, aligning practices with the organization’s strategic goals.
  • Develop initiatives to increase service utilization, attracting families from diverse backgrounds to ensure an inclusive and welcoming environment.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily service operations by maintaining open communication with the Cluster Manager.
  • Ensure strict adherence to National Quality Framework (NQF) and National Quality Standards (NQS).
  • Monitor programming and assess individual and group observations to enhance children’s learning experiences.
  • Provide pedagogical guidance and mentor educators to improve teaching practices.
  • Assist in staff scheduling and rostering, ensuring optimal staffing at all times.
  • Guarantee that all policies and procedures are effectively followed.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by the Cluster Manager.

Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Diploma in Children’s Services
  • Up-to-date knowledge of licensing and legislation related to Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC)
  • Thorough understanding of the National Quality Framework (NQF), National Quality Standards (NQS) and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
  • Proven ability to lead, develop and mentor staff in an early childhood setting
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues, families and children
  • Valid Western Australian Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Current National Police Clearance
  • Valid Australian Class C Driver’s License

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in staff mentoring, curriculum development, administrative support and community engagement
  • Ability to integrate anti-bias strategies into educational programs
  • Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards relevant to early childhood settings
  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Current certifications in First Aid, Anaphylaxis Management and Asthma Management
